I wonder if I put a few words here?

Evaluating Mutimedia and Active and Passive Learning

Through this week’s study, I understand the difference between active learning and passive learning. I learned through Bloom’s Taxonomy that there are six levels of learning, from basic to advanced: remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate and create. Active learning is when the learner is motivated to learn and treats learning as a motivation, and is interested in the learning content, not only in memorizing and understanding the knowledge, but also in creating new content by understanding and applying the learning content. We have studied Student-centered learning and Problem-based learning in the previous weeks, both related to active learning.

Active learners learn with questions in mind and are willing to find answers. Passive learners are those who see learning as a task and aim to solve it. Group discussions, learning by doing, practical exercises, teaching others and immediate application. In these forms, the student thinks actively and does hands-on work, in the process exercising his comprehension, memory, judgment, problem-solving skills and creativity. In my personal experience, if something interests me and I want to do it better, I tend to pay more attention to the knowledge and information, I am willing to learn about it and even try various tools to make my learning easier and more efficient, and I tend to use the knowledge I have learned well.

I tried the H5P application to complete an interactive video and I know how to add activity questions, multiple choice, fill in the blank and true or false questions to the video. I think adding interactive questions to a video immediately allows learners to check their understanding of the video content and their concentration, whether they missed the video content, and if they answered the question wrong they can immediately go back to check the correct answer, effectively increasing their memory of the knowledge. And H5P is also very convenient to use, not as difficult as I thought, is a helpful teaching tool to use.

I modified a youtube video of vanilla cake making into an interactive video and here are the results:

I used to do presentations with ppt until I now know about canva. Canva can be used not only for graphic design, but also for video and motion graphics. When you add a clip, or add a video or motion sticker, you can export it as a video or motion picture. What’s more, Canva also comes with a library of video clips, which is very convenient.
First of all, Canva has text effects. After adding text, you can add effects to the text, such as shadows, neon, and other effects. Then, Canva has a powerful library of clips. There are a lot of clips in Canva, including pictures, illustrations, charts, stickers, etc. They are clearly categorized and easy to search.

When I used to do presentations, what I lacked more was the layout of the pages, and the need to add some new and interesting effects and nice backgrounds. I added too much text to each page of the ppt, instead of concise text.

Infographics are also a new tool that I have learned. Infographics can effectively visualize and help us to understand and remember concepts. I have learned a lot in these two weeks about how to improve my presentation, not only in terms of graphics but also in terms of content layout. I also learned a lot of effective tools that I can use to help my audience understand the content.

Regarding video game learning support, I think this approach greatly increases learner motivation and allows learners to try things they haven’t done before, but it lacks Merrill’s first principle of engaging “learners in solving real-world problems”.

As I learned during these two weeks, I learned that as students, we often have many of the same resources available to us for independent learning.

How to improve a student’s motivation for learning can be done by improving the learning environment, reducing the barriers and limitations of the environment for the student, and providing a better learning environment for each student. Helping students find their own strengths and focus on cultivating them can help students regain a sense of accomplishment and become more motivated to learn and grow.

Inclusive design for me can make the design output more universal and remove the physical and psychological barrier of products for the ability-impaired group. I think if we make these designs accessible to people with disabilities, it will also make the experience easier for everyone to use. On the one hand, it’s not just a convenience for a special minority, it’s also a convenience for the general public. Inclusive design allows more people to use the product equally. It is possible to recognize the diversity of users and design products, services and environments for the masses so that they are used and enjoyed by as many people as possible.

Hello everyone, my name is Yue Wang, I am a senior economics student, and I usually like to surf the Internet and play video games, and also I really like to chat with different friends. I like to watch movies, especially horror and suspense type movies. I often pay attention to news and current affairs and some fashion related information. I usually like to use various social media, instagram, tik tok and so on. Social media allows me to see the wider world and other people’s daily lives. There is a lot of positive content that interests me. However, many of my interests are phased and I often change them, and I am glad that I was able to learn a lot of new things again this semester.
